Galveston Arts Center Hosts Annual Fundraising Event

Galveston Arts Center is pleased to announce the Fourth Annual Swashbucklers’ Soiree will be hosted at the Texas Seaport Museum, home of the celebrated 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA on Saturday, July 23, 2011. This year’s pirate bash will include a silent auction, great food, ale for all and entertainment to shiver ye timbers! Doors will open to the public at 6:00 pm and bidding on silent auction items will continue until 8:30 pm. Admission will be $15 each at the door, $12 for GAC members. Pirate attire is encouraged! The proceeds from this evening of nautical nonsense will benefit Galveston “Arrrrts” Center’s exhibitions and education programs.For more info click here.

ArtHouston

The annual summer event of ArtHouston 2011, encompassing exhibitions at more than 30 galleries, will open Saturday, July 9. A day long event, it will be the busiest day of the year with many galleries holding evening receptions. A wide range of work will be on display, from realist to abstract paintings, sculpture to mixed media constructions, drawings and works on paper, collage and photography. The featured artists are both emerging regional talents and established artists from around the world. Participating galleries include those along Colquitt, in the Museum District, the Heights and other areas.
