| chloe dao’s 8th year anniversary |
    |
The 8.8.08 marked the 8th Anniversary of Chloe Dao’s LOT 8 boutique. The anniversary celebration took place at DiverseWorks Artspace. Our sponsors were: DiverseWorks, Bombay Sapphire, The Tasting Room, ZenFilms, MAC , LOT 8 Salon, Art Institute Houston, Sine Co Sine, Phyto, Nina Shoes, and Patricia Underwood. To make this day even more special, Mayor Bill White declared August 8, 2008 “Chloe Dao Day” in honor of all her successes and her contributions to the city of Houston. The proclamation was presented to Chloe by Councilman Peter Brown.
Over 700 people joined them for a special retrospective exhibit of Chloe’s journey from the opening of her boutique in 2000 to her win on Project Runway Season 2 to her continued successes in other endeavors such as QVC. Special guest Emmett McCarthy, Chloe's castmate on PR2 flew down from NYC to join in on the festivities. Guests enjoyed cocktails by Bombay Sapphire and delicious bites by The Tasting Room. As hot as it was at DiverseWorks, Distorted X dance crew turned up the heat on the runway as a prelude to Chloe’s fashion show.
Chloe Fall 2008 collection is all about luxurious textured fabrics, architectural lines, and a perfect fit. The show opened with a gorgeous oversized herringbone coat trimmed in leather. Tailored skirts and pants with satin piping displayed Chloe’s talent for draping and fitting the woman’s body. The racer back made appearances in several styles such as Naomi, Tyra, and Heather baring just enough skin without being too revealing. Layers of chiffon flowed down the runway in her gorgeous evening gowns.

It takes an audacious person to embrace a name like Stevie. For years, due to the likes of Stevie Nicks, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Stevie Wonder, the name has been associated with talent, enthusiasm, and success. Adding to even more character and zest to the name is Bliss Nail Spa’s Stevie Copeland. Inspired by the notion that all people desire peace of mind and sincere human interaction, she believes that a spa provides the pleasure of not only offering a safe haven to unwind, but gives the individual the opportunity to look better and feel better, so that they many face the world with a re-charged battery. A native Houstonian, and passionate CIDESCO diplomat, Stevie is determined to bring unparalleled spa offerings to those with an interest in holistic studies, sustainability, and organic skin care. Mark our word; you will be hearing a lot more of this Stevie.
1. How did Bliss Nail Spa formed and its concept? We are the 1st nail spa in Houston to offer the luxury of sipping cocktails with any service. Also, with sanitation and service in mind, the concept was created to pamper those who seek a safe, clean and fun environment where they can kick their shoes off and relax! Service, quality and cleanliness are our core valued focus. |
2. What makes Bliss Nail Spa different than other nail spa facilities in Houston? Fun, clean and service oriented. With a complimentary drink menu offering everything from coffee to cosmos, it’s a great place to get pampered together with girlfriends, but men will find it a treat to get their grooming services done with plenty of TLC. Also, the Mani-Pedi Suite with massaging Pedi-thrones, is great where couples, business groups and friends can de-stress together. For the impulse types, you can just pull right up to the two front designated parking spaces, sans appointments, for quick fixes.
3. What are people’s general reactions when they’re server cocktails while getting their nails done at Bliss Nail Spa? They LOVE it! It allows them to unwind and feel at home. The atmosphere is social and fun with unbeatable service.
4. What types of services does Bliss Nail Spa specialize in? Exceptional nail treatments that not only address the health of the nails, but incorporate hand and foot treatments, facials, waxing (using imported high quality wax), massages (including Balinese and Tai Yoga Massage), and detoxifying body wraps.
5. Tell us about your title & duties as Spa Director, and what is your background in the spa/salon industry? As Spa Director, my duties are to coordinate the spa to ensure the integrity of our Brand Promise. I am a CIDESCO Diplomat, an esthetician, massage therapist and an educator in the spa industry. I have worked with two highly successful professional skin line brands as a National Educator and as a Territory Manager. I have travel around the country helping other huge resorts and spas setting up extraordinary experiences. I have advanced training in concepts of Ayurveda, Holistic Therapies, Lymphatic Drainage (for detoxification purposes), Reflexology, Aromatherapy and Indian Head Massage, Bridal Makeup, Makeup Application for photography/film (both black and white and color), and have taken advanced training in stage makeup. I love to pamper, educate and excel in my field.
6. What inspired you to be in the beauty industry? I have always enjoyed going to the spa and taking care of myself. I believe that in this day and age the human connection has been lost through our advanced technology age (i.e. emails, cell phones, busy schedules). Everyone desires peace of mind and sincere human interactions. I believe that a spa has the pleasure of not only offering a safe haven to unwind, but gives the individual the chance to learn more about what they can do to look better and feel better so that they can go out in this world with a re-charged battery!
7. What is your favorite service at Bliss Nail Spa? The Luxe Facial which includes Reflexology, a back treatment and a special Lymphatic drainage facial massage! It will take you to Blissful Cloud 9!
8. What is your most popular service at Bliss Nail Spa since the salon opened? Our Pure Bliss Pedicure which includes Reflexology and a Hot Stone massage!
9. What are the trends in nail care? The Medi-mani and pedi. Waterless and sanitary!
10. What’s in the future for you & Bliss Nail Spa? I am currently working on my own cosmetics line which will be launching in Bliss Nail Spa by January of 09. The name of the line is Steva.
Stevie can be reached at steviebug@sbcglobal.net. For more info about Bliss Nail Spa or to book an appointment, please call 713/ 864.8787 or click here

zen & beauty form the perfect union at dermagenix medical spa
Breakthrough Procedures: Vibradermabrasion and Briten |

With advances in medicine happening on a daily basis, the question is no longer where to locate the eternal stream of youthfulness, but rather from which fountain to choose. From the influx of industry-related advertising to establishments offering cosmetic procedures popping up everywhere, one sympathizes with consumers as they try to wade through the confusion associated with the rainbow of promises, facts, fictions, benefits, costs and risks associated with obtaining a hint of self-enhancing bling.
The first step in finding the revitalized you is understanding the three distinct types of service establishments that offer aesthetic medical treatments. Cosmetic and plastic surgeons, the only group licensed to perform surgery, attract the interest of most patients seeking specialized invasive procedures (such as liposuction and breast augmentation). Although some patients patronize dermatologists for beauty procedures, the majority seek them for skin disease treatments. "Medical Spas, a popular mix of medical treatments and spa-inspired pampering, provide a pleasant atmosphere offering comfort, pampering and experience-oriented services that provide the benefits of cutting-edge beauty technology and the relaxation needed to calm even the most hectic minds. |
|
In understanding the weaknesses and strengths of specialization, a prospective patient should first know what type of procedure they desire. A plastic surgeon or dermatologist may top the list for a particular treatment, but if one seeks spirit-lifting amenities and a non-invasive medical procedure in a pampering environment, it’s likely a Medical Spa will prove to be the optimal choice.
Elite among Medical Spas, Houston’s Dermagenix stands out for many reasons. Specializing in aesthetic medicine and skin rejuvenation, Dermagenix, is under the direction of Dr. Kim Vo, an on-sight board certified physician, native Houstonian and industry leader. Dr. Vo is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds memberships with the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine, Center for Performing Arts Medicine, Harris County Medical Association, and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery.
Additionally, with a Zen-inducing soundtrack, the permeation of aroma-therapy scents, fragrant calming tea and the utilization of therapeutic hot towels upon arrival, Dermagenix provides luxury, a wealth of services and the latest in aesthetic procedural techniques. Dermagenix is proud to present two of the latest procedures on the menu, Vibradermabrasion and Briten. Vibradermabrasion, like microdermabrasion but more gentle and precise, is a new technique that achieves painless exfoliation through utilizing a vibrating surface to infuse specialized topical skin care products deep into the skin, leaving a smooth and radiant complexion (best for neck and décolletage). Or try a customized chemical peel, like the Briten Peel, which target pigmentation to remove evidence of aging, sun damage, wrinkles, rough complexion, and uneven skin tone. The Briten Peel is ideal for clients of darker complexion who may not be candidates for phototherapy, or for clients looking for accelerated anti-aging results. Other Dermagenix’s tried-and-true procedures include 3D Skin Rejuvenation, Titan® Skin Tightening, Laser Genesis®, IPL Photo Facial, Botox®, Juvéderm® fillers, Radiesse® Fillers, Artefill® Fillers, Laser Vein Treatment, Acne and Rosacea Treatment, Mesotherapy, Laser Hair Removal, Facials, Massage and the Dermagenix Solutions Medical Grade Skin Care Collection.
Now is the prefect time to visit Dermagenix to replenish and rejuvenate your precious skin from all of that exposure to the summer sun. As if it couldn’t get any better, Dermageinix offers some great deals for September: All new clients receive 20% off any service (1st visit only); and End of summer specials - Your summer skin needs serious TLC: 15 % off any TLC services
1) T - is for Titan- Uses light energy to stimulate new collagen growth deep beneath your skin's surface, helping to enhance your skin without surgery, recovery time, or injections. Titan can help to tighten skin on your face, arms, abdomen, and legs.
2) L – is for Laser (hair removal, vein treatment, IPL, Laser Genesis.
3) C – is for Chemical Peels (physician’s strengths).
For your convenience, Dermagenix has just extended their hours for Friday to be from 10AM to 7PM. Dermagenix is located at 6030 S. Rice, suite A, Houston 77081 between The Galleria and the city of Bellaire.

Clean, white furniture, modern shades of blue on the walls, and cool pink stools give the place a contemporary vibe that’s complimented by European, loungy music playing in the background. Bliss Nail Spa boasts a “pedi throne” area fitted with drawn curtain for privacy, fashioned with state-of-the-art “European Touch” massage leather chairs, custom designed to be pipeless for sanitary purpose (to prevent water from trapping inside). Targeting the young and “young-at-heart” professionals, the atmosphere is New York-hip with Texas-style hospitality. Trendy music, runway news via plasma screens and hip drinks create the perfect spot for a quick lunchtime break or a full day of pampering bliss.

Staying the stylish fashionista you are is a snap with Bliss’s opulent array of polishes and their “Flavor of the Month,” which features the hottest trends in fingertip chic. In other words, sit back, throw your feet up and leave the polish hunt to Bliss Nail Spa, where each flavor is based on the recommendations of trendsetting media venues.
On the retail menu, stop by for exclusive, hard-to-find boutique products to pamper all the senses: Sara Happ's Lip Scrub and Lip Slip, Pure & Petal Hair Fragrances, Filles Des Iles Perfume Collection, Jaqua Bath & Beauty, Whish Shaving Products, Voluspa Candles Collection, The Thymes Bath & Body, Lafco NY Luxury Articles & Fragrances, Havanias Sandals, Billy Jealousy & Nickel (for the boys), and more...
Still want more? At Bliss Nail Spa you can also throw your own private “SPArty”, with complimentary SPArty decorations, entertainment and catering, all depending on your SPArty style and budget. Any part of the facilities can be reserved for private events.
Bliss Nail Spa wants you to relax – worry free. That’s why cleanliness is priority number one. Bliss has its own Sterilization Bar where stainless steel instruments are sterilized after EVERY use in a proprietary 3-step sterilization process: germicidal/disinfectant soak, ultrasonic debris removal and medical-grade steam sterilization by an FDA-approved autoclave. You can even take home all single-use files, buffers and everything disposable.
Bliss Nail Spa is located in the hot Washington Corridor/Heights neighborhood – 701 Shepherd Drive, Houston 77007. As the first nail spa in the area, Bliss Nail Spa joins a local line-up of Houston food, fashion and fitness faves. Just around the corner, you will find Soma, Citizen Lounge, Crew Health & Fitness, Joy Yoga, Blue Label Lounge, Catalan, Cova Hand-Selected Wines, Max's Wine Dive and Kick's. Also new to the area are Flemings, Benjy's and a plethora of other high-end neighbors. Bliss Nail Spa is simply a sizzling spot for fun, friends and fashionable nails.
