It was a night of firsts at the Crystal Icon Awards held at the New Constructed Regency Ballroom at the Omni Hotel on Sunday, January 27th.  A new ballroom, a new format, a new name for the awards show, and the first time for many of the vendors to showcase to new products.  But one thing wasn’t new and that was the stellar dedication that event Honoree Susan Christian, Deputy Director of Special Events in the Mayor’s office has given to the industry in Houston for 23 years. Both, the current Mayor, Bob White, and Past Mayor, Bob Lanier, were on hand to celebrate Susan’s achievement at the awards show put on by the International Special Events Society and produced by Deborah Elias and Mia Monroe.

intimacy takes lingerie to the next level of comfort
Listen up ladies! If you are still struggling to find the perfect bra that actually fits and looks great, you need to visit Intimacy. Houston was lucky enough to become a part of the Intimacy franchise in early May.  Since then, the trendy Galleria location across—from J Crew and adjacent to Borders—has been attracting women from all over the Greater Houston area.

Intimacy, a fashionable lingerie retailer, is committed to outfitting women with the perfect lingerie from an international market. While looks play a huge part in the selection process, Intimacy takes three things into consideration when assisting a consumer: fit, definition, and comfort. No one leaves this store feeling too snug or unsupported. Since its 1992 debut in Atlanta, Intimacy has made its mark on the lingerie industry, expanding from a single store to multiple retail locations in Houston, Dallas, New York, Chicago, Boston and Miami.

So, who is behind all of this success and expansion? Founder, Susan Nethero, and her side-kick, Marketing Manager Brenda Gage who was kind enough to answer a few of our questions…

What is the most unique or differentiating thing about Intimacy stores?

The Intimacy experience is more than just a bra fitting; we counsel women on their needs for fit, fashion and style and wardrobe! It is marked by 30 minutes of outstanding service teaching women how bras, panties and shape wear can accent their features and give them increased confidence and self esteem! All Intimacy fitters practice a holistic method of fitting that teaches how bras function and how to get the best proportions. It is sort of like a body transformation that leaves women feeling uplifted while enhancing their beauty!

Who started Intimacy and its concept?  What's the story behind it?

Susan Nethero aka “The Bra Whisperer” started the company back in 1992. She had a real problem finding bras for herself, as she is ironically very small busted. When she would shop with her mother as a teen, there were no bras that could fit her which made her feel very defeated. Later, while traveling through Europe she was able to see how fantastic the bra fitting process and selection was. She actually got some training from a woman named June Kenton who is the royal bra fitter for the queen of England.

Susan has always felt a very deep emotional connection to helping women feel better about their bodies. And let’s face it…how can you possibly feel comfortable in your body when you’re not even comfortable in your bra!?!
We were featured on Oprah for the first time in 2005 and actually just taped our fifth segment with Oprah on how to “Get Your Sexy Back” which will air later this month or possibly early November. We have also been featured on The Today Show, The Tyra Banks Show, Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style and How to Look Good Naked (to name just a few).

What is the most rewarding thing about working at Intimacy?

By far, the most rewarding thing about working at Intimacy is helping women transform their body image and self esteem. They come to us feeling very scared and insecure, and walk out of the dressing rooms flashing their friends, laughing and enjoying life! It’s a really special way to spend your day. Our customers end up being our friends! When you watch someone go from horror to elation when they look at themselves in the mirror, you can’t help but feel uplifted too. We can honestly fit women of every shape and size.

What skills does one need in order to be successful working at such a store (in terms of fitting, knowing body types, etc.)?

Most definitely a big heart and an open mind. Women are so critical of one another, so naturally when people come through our doors the first thing they think is that we are going to be judgmental. But the opposite is true. We look at women and instantly focus on the individual things that make that woman unique and beautiful. We want to help bring their inner spirit to the outside of their bodies.

What are some of the fun things you do when you are not working?

We all like to have a good time together. We are particularly known for our wild Christmas parties. We’re all big dancers! I think it stems from the special bond we all share doing the kind of work that we do.

What advice do you have for women to look their best when choosing a bra?

Come to Intimacy, of course! We are leaders in the industry when it comes to training, selection and experience; 65% of our customers come to us for comfort improvement, but what most of them don’t realize is that it is also an opportunity for a beauty makeover.

Tape measures don’t tell the whole story either. Even if they can measure the distance around your body they can’t tell you the landscape. The biggest mistake we see is buying a bra that is too big around and not deep enough in the cup. So the effect is a bra swimming on a person’s body and riding up a person’s back. That’s how you get back fat actually.

What are some of the mistakes women often make when buying a bra?

They most often associate looseness with comfort. They think that if a bra is giving them the dreaded back fat it must be too tight, but in reality the opposite is true. By making the bra band smaller and positioning it properly on your body, you can eliminate that awful back bulge! Another big problem is not buying enough bras. You have to remember that bras are a lot like shoes. They bear the brunt of your body all day everyday. Most women own around 8 bras but actually wear less than half of those causing them to wear out faster. A good bra and a good bra wardrobe are essential. Imagine how fast a pair of shoes would wear out if you only wore the same pair every single day!

Plus, we alter bras for our customers (for free) so our bras will last a long time!

What's more important, form or function in a bra?

Certainly the correct size is of utmost importance, but you can really have both. At any given time we have around 75 styles per size for a woman to choose from so depending on her body type, lifestyle, and personal taste we are prepared to accommodate her!

What are Intimacy's future plans?

We are opening new stores at a rate of about four per year. Our goal is to be a reference store and to help uphold a standard throughout the country by putting at least one store in every major city throughout the country.

dermagenix featured on debra duncan’s “great day houston” tv show
Great Day Houston recently featured Dermagenix and its face and body products on the morning show segment, “Life Without the Nip and Tuck.” The segment gave viewers a look at the noninvasive strategies for keeping skin looking fresh and young all year round.

The segment attributed a variety of Dermagenix’s products including their Herbal Vitamin Spray Mist, Skin Defense Cream, Pumpkin and Pumice Body Splash, and Pure & Simple Cleansing Lotion. In addition, the green tea extract drank on the show, as well as the mineral makeup being used, are both carried by Dermagenix.

Specializing in aesthetic medicine and skin rejuvenation, Dermagenix, is under the direction of Dr. Kim Vo, an on-site board certified physician, native Houstonian and industry leader. Dr. Vo is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds memberships with the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine, Center for Performing Arts Medicine, Harris County Medical Association, and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery.

zen & beauty form the perfect union at dermagenix medical spa
With advances in medicine happening on a daily basis, the question is no longer where to locate the eternal stream of youthfulness, but rather from which fountain to choose. From the influx of industry-related advertising to establishments offering cosmetic procedures popping up everywhere, one sympathizes with consumers as they try to wade through the confusion associated with the rainbow of promises, facts, fictions, benefits, costs and risks associated with obtaining a hint of self-enhancing bling.

The first step in finding the revitalized you is understanding the three distinct types of service establishments that offer aesthetic medical treatments. Cosmetic and plastic surgeons, the only group licensed to perform surgery, attract the interest of most patients seeking specialized invasive procedures (such as liposuction and breast augmentation). Although some patients patronize dermatologists for beauty procedures, the majority seek them for skin disease treatments. "Medical Spas, a popular mix of medical treatments and spa-inspired pampering, provide a pleasant atmosphere offering comfort, pampering and experience-oriented services that provide the benefits of cutting-edge beauty technology and the relaxation needed to calm even the most hectic minds.
In understanding the weaknesses and strengths of specialization, a prospective patient should first know what type of procedure they desire. A plastic surgeon or dermatologist may top the list for a particular treatment, but if one seeks spirit-lifting amenities and a non-invasive medical procedure in a pampering environment, it’s likely a Medical Spa will prove to be the optimal choice.

Elite among Medical Spas, Houston’s Dermagenix stands out for many reasons. Specializing in aesthetic medicine and skin rejuvenation, Dermagenix, is under the direction of Dr. Kim Vo, an on-sight board certified physician, native Houstonian and industry leader. Dr. Vo is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds memberships with the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine, Center for Performing Arts Medicine, Harris County Medical Association, and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery.
Additionally, with a Zen-inducing soundtrack, the permeation of aroma-therapy scents, fragrant calming tea and the utilization of therapeutic hot towels upon arrival, Dermagenix provides luxury, a wealth of services and the latest in aesthetic procedural techniques. Dermagenix is proud to present two of the latest procedures on the menu, Vibradermabrasion and Briten.   Vibradermabrasion, like microdermabrasion but more gentle and precise, is a new technique that achieves painless exfoliation through utilizing a vibrating surface to infuse specialized topical skin care products deep into the skin, leaving a smooth and radiant complexion (best for neck and décolletage). Or try a customized chemical peel, like the Briten Peel, which target pigmentation to remove evidence of aging, sun damage, wrinkles, rough complexion, and uneven skin tone. The Briten Peel is ideal for clients of darker complexion who may not be candidates for phototherapy, or for clients looking for accelerated anti-aging results.  Other Dermagenix’s tried-and-true procedures include 3D Skin Rejuvenation, Titan® Skin Tightening, Laser Genesis®, IPL Photo Facial, Botox®, Juvéderm® fillers, Radiesse® Fillers, Artefill® Fillers, Laser Vein Treatment, Acne and Rosacea Treatment, Mesotherapy, Laser Hair Removal, Facials, Massage and the Dermagenix Solutions Medical Grade Skin Care Collection.

It’s never too early to get your FACE ready for the holidays.  For the month of October, Dermagenix offers the following specials:

  • 50% off one session of the Laser Genesis Skin Rejuvenation - Helps minimize large pores, fine lines, and leaves your skin plump with a healthy glow safely with no down time.
  • 20% off Vibraderm – Quick polish for smoother skin.
  • Buy one Get one Free - Radiesse (for hand rejuvenation and Nasolabial folds)
For your convenience, Dermagenix has extended their hours for Friday to be from 10AM to 7PM.   Dermagenix is located at 6030 S. Rice, suite A, Houston 77081 between The Galleria and the city of Bellaire.  For more information call them at 713-662-DERM or click here.

mimi dinh inspired by taylor-wood exhibit
Mimi Dinh of Mikel Marketing and her daughter, Kellie, went to the Contemporary Art Museum this past weekend to see the Taylor-Wood exhibit. “I was moved by this powerful exhibit in terms of aesthetics and creativity. After reading more explanations about the meaning behind the exhibit, I was even more impressed. It’s a must-see exhibit”

Drawing freely from a variety of sources, ranging from classic opera to Renaissance and Baroque painting to Hollywood , Taylor-Wood’s thought-provoking portraits and film work focus on the various states of human emotion. In her carefully staged work, her characters often grapple with mental and physical breaking points.
More recent works explore the artist’s fascination with suspended states—the sense of being caught in between two worlds. In David, 2004, Taylor-Wood photographs soccer icon David Beckham asleep, caught somewhere in the nether world of dreams. In the photographic series Self Portrait Suspended, 2004, Taylor-Wood appears utterly weightless and graceful as she is caught suspended in mid air in what appears to be a quest to reach a moment of “absolute release and freedom.”

“In a tragedy that becomes increasingly reflective, a number of Taylor-Wood’s works probe the physical boundaries of existence, the ravages of time, and our impending mortality. Two of the artist’s works, Self Portrait as a Tree, 2000, and Self Portrait in a Single Breasted Suit with Hare, 2001, are intensely personal examinations of the fragility of human life. Though metaphoric, these two photographs dramatically convey the artist’s confrontation with caner, mortality, and her struggle to survive,” (Sam Taylor-Wood 1995-2007).

This exhibit is going on through Sunday, October 5 and is free to the public. For more information, click here.

making the best of ike
by Mimi Dinh
I can honestly say that like many Houstonians, I really didn’t take Ike too seriously. I listened to the nightly news, read the paper, and acknowledged all the rumors about the severity of the storm; however, after years of overrated hurricanes that were actually nothing more than heavy thunder storms, my family and I decided to stay put. Well, you can imagine how surprised we were came Saturday morning…

We woke up early that morning only to find that we had no power, debris everywhere, seven leaks throughout our roof, and the huge oak tree in our back yard had uprooted and fallen over the power line into our neighbor’s fence. The aftermath had become all too real. Then it all came crashing down, literally. Our roof collapsed. After the initial shock, we just looked at each other and laughed hysterically, because let’s face it, what else could we do?

I always try to see the silver lining in everyting, so after finding out my office had no power and my daughter’s school was closed for a few days, the silver lining here was the unexpected free time on our hands, so I decided to "bond" with Kellie by taking a mini-trip together. While some of my friends were planning to go to Austin, Dallas, and New Orleans, I found out that one of my best friends, Patrick and his son, Isaac, had just left for San Antonio and told us about the great time they’ve been having there; so Kellie and I decided to follow their lead. Minutes later we packed our bags, jumped in the car and headed west.

While the majority of the hotels had reached capacity, I was lucky enough to have found a room at Mimosa, a 4 Point Sheraton property that was located about a block away from the River Walk. That evening, while the four of us were sharing fajitas and sangrias at a Mexican restaurant on the River Walk, we all had a blast catching up and goofing off; Ike seemed so far away. As we were sitting next to the water, enjoying the perfect weather, it made us feel a tiny bit of guilt that our spouses were left behind due to their work commitment as physicians.

That evening, I tried to get some work done from the hotel, e-mailing my clients to gather updates and details about their situations, but hardly heard back from anyone. Still, I kept trying because I was worried about how their offices and homes were holding up, and also needed their approval on some impending projects.

The next day, we woke up leisurely and strolled down the River Walk, just hanging out, people watching and window shopping.  For lunch, we picked an Italian joint by the water, where we chatted and giggled over pasta, salad and garlic bread.  Then we met up with Isaac, Patrick and his in-laws at the beautiful San Antonio Botanical Garden to explore the “Terrific Treehouses” exhibit, which featured nine locally designed tree houses, intended to delight and stir the imagination of their visitors. Speaking from experience, my imagination definitely wondered; everything seemed more exciting because I was seeing them through my daughter’s eyes. That evening, we all met up for dinner at the River Walk again (there really is not anywhere else to go for great eats and atmosphere in SA); however, this time at the famous County Line BBQ, a local fave.  We ordered everything: sausage, brisket, sliced beef, ribs, potato salad, rolls, and some ice-cold beers to wash it all down.

As we were driving back home the next morning, I was thinking how blessed we were to have the means to be able to turn a negative situation (Ike) into such an unforgettable, unexpected, bonding, mini-vacation for Kellie and I.

After finding out from my husband that schools were canceled for the next week, and my office and our house were still without power, we were barely arriving into Houston before finding ourselves packing again, this time for a 4-day trip to Southern California to spend time with our families and friends.

We left the dreary Ike aftermath-scene to arrive upon sunshine, warm temperature and soft breeze—I couldn’t help renting a convertible to soak it all in.  We went straight from the airport to Bolsa’s “Little Saigon” for some mouth watering Vietnamese “banh cuon” and “banh xeo” – just what our taste buds were asking for.  With my GPS hooked up and convertible top down, we were enjoying the journey just as much as the destination.

The next day, my California friends gave Kellie and I VIP tickets to Universal Studios.  As we went from one movie set to another, to see Kellie shrieking in delight was worth the entire trip.  On our way back to my sister’s place where we were staying, we drove through Sunset Boulevard where Kellie got to visit her favorite store Kid Robot (apparently it’s like the latest rage in toys among kids and tweens), while I got to visit mine, Fred Segal.  For dinner we had to stop by our most favorite burger joint in the world, In-N-Out Burger, a popular chain in California.  We each ordered a burger combo and finished every morsel.  It was finger-lickin’ good.

During our trip, I got to take my sister and her family to Mozza, a gourmet pizzeria run by celebrity chef Mario Batali, Nancy Silverton and Joseph Bastianich. I have been craving their thin crusted, white pizza and chicken pate over toast, ever since our California friends took my husband and I there during our last visit.  It is supposed to be the most “hard-to-get” reservation in LA, even for stars such as Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz.  We were just lucky that we came at the right time; there were just enough seats at the bar for all of us.  We enjoyed scrumptious fried squash blossoms stuffed with goat cheese, and two kinds of pizza, a “meat lovers” with tomato, mozzarella, sausage, salami, bacon & guanciale, and a “white blanco” pizza with Bianca with fontina, mozzarella, sottocenere & sage.

During the next few days, I spent a lot of time with my family and some of our friends and had a great time reconnecting with them. My sister and her family took us to Oh Me Ly, a Vietnamese and International cuisine restaurant with live music and karaoke. The food was excellent and the entertainment was surprisingly good.  Our friends introduced us to a few unforgettable experiences: the best Vietnamese sandwich where the two sister-chefs went to France for 10 years to learn the secrets behind French bakery before opening up their sandwich shop. The same friends took us to an amazing modern home tour, Neutra VDL Research house, designed and built by Richard Neutra in 1932 in a serene setting looking over Silver Lake in LA. It was an embodiment of then-current European avant-garde style and design. This house was Richard Neutra’s own, his third building in America and the house in which he was able to live and work for nearly three decades.  After the tour, they took us to Korea Town for the most delicious and interesting culinary experience we’ve had in a while.  After little bowls of condiments were brought out (a tradition with most Korea dishes), we each received an individual, piping hot clay pot with chunks of tofu swimming in steamy broth so hot it was still bubbling.  The spices from the hearty broth are what make this dish so flavorful, while tofu makes it healthy. A tasty and healthy dish; how could anyone resist?

In my spare time, I tried again and again to touch base with my clients and still had no luck. I assumed they probably did not have power, but I wanted to keep them as up to date as possible via phone and e-mail.

After spending most of my time in CA with family & friends, I was finally ready to have a “ladies night”.  I saw no better way to end the perfect trip than by spending my final evening with one of my best friends, Mary. Being single, Mary likes to do “single” things.  We began the evening at the exclusive hot-spot, Chateau Marmont bar, where we enjoyed fabulous cocktails while catching up and exchanging stories like we had never skipped a beat, even though it had been about a year since I last saw her. The night came to an end at Sky Bar. We ignored people’s warning that unless your name was on the guest list, it’s impossible to get in.  Our confidence must have worked because as we smiled to the door guy, we found ourselves being ushered inside, and came upon the most happening scene of all.  So this is where the party is, we wondered. Compared to the Sky Bar in Miami, this location was just as breathtaking, with a large reflecting pool surrounded by cabanas and lounging chaises under open sky. It was a great place to end the evening.

As much as I treasured everything we did on this trip, I was ready to come home. Ike had given us the opportunity to get away for the week, but now it was time to face reality. I was anxious to see my husband, reopen the office, and ultimately get things back on track. Ike was certainly destructive and disheartening and really put things in perspective of how fragile our lives can be when facing the wrath of Mother Nature.  But Ike also made me truly grateful for all the blessings in our lives, the power of positive thinking, and to remember to always find a silver lining in every situation.

green by adeline comes full circle

This fall, Adeline Sung, designer and owner of Green by Adeline, will showcase her award-winning fashion endeavor, Green by Adeline, at the 2009 International Fashion Week in Shanghai, China . The event begins October 30 and lasts through November 5, 2008. Adeline is honored to showcase her fashions in this prestigious international fashion event.

Attracting the Who’s Who of the fashion industry, International Fashion Week is known for embracing glitz and glamour from around the globe.  This year, the five-day event will host designers from all over the world, representing countless countries.  Major buyers, notable editors, media, and style-craving celebrities are all expected be seated around the catwalk.

Adeline’s supporters will fly from around the globe to accompany her at this year’s International Fashion Week. Following the shows, a private affair will be hosted by Adeline to show her gratitude and appreciation to the international media and her supporters.

With the hope of landing “eco-fashion” in the style spotlight, Adeline will send 80 pieces from four lines - Ready-To-Wear, Casual, Sports, and Evening - down the runway. Ten solid black pieces add a subtle elegance to the collection, while the rest are vibrant, bright colored pieces that exude the essence of spring and summer. The bursting colors are the highlight of this collection, giving each line a fresh and zesty appeal. Every garment is carefully crafted using her signature eco-friendly fabrics, all of which are manufactured from completely organic materials such as wood chips and bamboo pulp. For this collection, Adeline used TENCEL®, a light-weight material that feels like silk and drapes elegantly; Modal®, which is often referred to as “the new wonder fabric,” and is softer than cotton yet lustrous as silk; and Bamboo, which drapes beautifully, and is known for its ability to kill 99.8 percent of bacteria, keeping clothes fresh and odor-free for longer periods of time. In addition, Adeline chose to enhance her signature fabrics, TENCEL® and Modal®, even more by blending them with wool, cotton, pearl, and silk.

Bridging the gap between ecology and couture, the collection’s classic style is complimented with Adeline’s signature horizontal and vertical patterns. She achieves the look by exposing a dynamic contrast, assembling the material in a way that produces multiple opposing thread directions. Adeline’s designs are smooth and flattering, yet fashionable and modern.

Promoting a green lifestyle is something Adeline is extremely passionate about and for which she is willing to make sacrifices. The International Fashion Week is the perfect platform to launch not only the collection, but also her mission. Green by Adeline gives consumers with similar lifestyles the opportunity to harmonize fashion with their relationship with the environment.

Adeline Sung has been a powerful force and pioneer in the eco-fashion industry, especially in Houston . Adeline was recognized along with 30 Houston individuals/organizations by Envy Magazinewith the “Green with Envy Award,” for ecologically conscious practices, hard work and innovative products. Green by Adeline was also selected as “Best Specialty Store” in Houston Press magazine’s “2008 Best Of” segment. Additionally, Green by Adeline received an honorable mention award from Keep Houston Beautiful (KHB), which will be presented at the 24th Annual Mayor’s Proud Partners Awards Luncheon, for keeping Houston green and beautiful through environmentally friendly practices.

As a direct result of Adeline’s novel designs, eco-friendly collections and fresh, humble personality, the media has taken notice. During the past year, heavy exposure has launched her line into the eyes and ears of fellow Houstonians and beyond. Recent coverage can be found in Total Body magazine (June 2008), 002 magazine(July 2008), Channel 11 CBS (Sept. 2008), Global Suppliers List (Aug. 2008), and Envy Magazine (July 2008). A complete list can be found on the Green by Adeline Web-site.

While ‘eco-friendly’ may categorize her collections, it is years of education in design and business experience that sets her apart from many other designers.  In addition to her education in Hong Kong, the Paris Fashion Institute and the Istituto di Moda Burgo in Milan , Adeline also received an MBA from Midson University in Mississippi.

So, what’s next for Adeline? Her latest venture is to add menswear to Green by Adeline as well as bamboo handbags. In fact, as there is no time to waste in the fashion industry, Adeline plans to begin working on designs for the handbags immediately after returning from Shanghai . In terms of the future, the sky is the limit. Adeline is determined to transform eco-fashion into mainstream fashion, satisfactory for any type of lifestyle. Ideally, she would like to see more and more designers choosing eco-friendly materials, making it not a choice, but rather, the norm

escape family resource center educates families to prevent child abuse

Children who have suffered early abuse or neglect may later exhibit significant behavior and emotional problems such as emotional instability, depression, and a tendency to be aggressive or violent with others, according to research reported in the September 2008 issue of Pediatrics, the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
This new clinical report, “Understanding the Behavioral and Emotional Consequences of Child Abuse”, cites neurobiological research showing that early abuse results in an altered physiological response to stressful stimuli, a response that negatively affects the child's social behavior.  These troublesome behaviors may persist long after the abusive or neglectful environment has changed or the child has been in foster care placement, according to the authors of the report, John Stirling, Jr., MD and the Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect and Section on Adoption and Foster Care American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

ESCAPE Family Resource Center’s mission is to teach parents and children coping, communication, and discipline skills so they can live together safely and supportively.

gentlemen…this is for you
by: Lauren Stuart, Mikel Marketing
It’s no secret that chivalry is dead, well, maybe not dead, but definitely in critical condition. Who could have imagined that gifts would be bought on Facebook, personal hygiene and demeanor would surrender to ‘comfy-casual,’ that sneakers would suffice as close-toed shoes, that break-ups would be carried out through heartless text messages, or that date night would evolve into a ‘group hang’ at the bar to watch the game with every other couple ‘on a date’? It’s quite perplexing actually, women take the time, and when I say time, I mean hours on end, getting ready, primping and choosing out the perfect outfit with shoes to match, all with the notion that their hot date will compliment her flawless look with his own well-groomed style and perfectly tailored suit. And, more often than not, the dude shows up right on time—never early—or late, with wind-blown hair, the same clothes he’s had on all day, and breath reminiscent of whatever it was he had for lunch. So, my question is: When did guys lose the effort?

In an article definitely worth reading, titled “The 21st-Century Gentleman,” featured in the October issue of GQ Magazine, the author investigates this very qualm, and—lucky for guys—reveals some very much need rules, tips and secrets for looking, and acting, like a civilized man.

quote of the month

"The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it."
